About Us

Experience, you bet!
Alfredo has developed his skills as a chef working, and running restaurants in locations as exotic as China, romantic as Vanuatu and Fiji, and as spectacular as Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills.

In 1971, Alfredo and his brother took their first steps into the food industry by opening a Pizza bar in Seaton.  Little did he know that 10 years later, in 1981, he would begin a journey that would take him around Adelaide and, indeed the World.  Here is a run down of his nearly 40 years working in the industry:

* 1981 - 1983    Morgan’s licensed restaurant Hahndorf

The Cafe Sabatini Years

Janet met Alf when she worked as a cleaner at Cafe on Grange part time which he was managing at the time. Janet then was then upgraded to dishwasher when the Cafe found themselves short one day. Janet then worked her way up to become the front of house at the Cafe when Alf was not at the Cafe.

Janet and Alf became firm friends and, when the Cafe on Grange was sold, they decided, as they worked so well as a team in the Cafe, it would be nice to have their own.

Hence Cafe Sabatini.

Here are some photographs of the transition from 'not' Cafe Sabatini to Cafe Sabatini.

Alf resting before another hard graft day of renovations begins.Alf and Janet saw such potential in this out door area and, boy, were they right.Lucy's specials to come down and walls to be filled in soon.
Colours, counter, you name it, must change!Looking good Alf! Hard days work done.
